I look forward to reading your words in the Whittier Daily News, and was glad to help with the voting. However, it was tough to find the way to do it with the directions provided in the last paragraph of your column.
Coming to your website and clicking on VOTE TO MAKE SHIRLEE THE NEXT OPRAH... was a snap! Perhaps you can print this advice in a little add-on to your next column, so that well-intentioned folk don't give up when they get flustered by the myownoprah.com/audition way.
Also, LOVED the clip about budgeting and food stamp shopping!

Dear Shirlee,

Thanks for your column about the children in Haiti taken by the Baptist church workers. I entirely agree with your point of view, and understand what your Mother went through too.

As the single parent of a black son, born in 1965 I too, was subject to my share of perjoratives. The nurse at the hospital when he was born called us a "social problem." He is severely disabled.

I have worked every day of my life since the age of 14 except when I was grossly pregnant or gravely ill and have paid back the state for the minimal help that they gave me.

We all must for our best for our own.

I appreciate you and your work, Shirlee.

Sincerely,

Rosella, "a laborer in another part of the vineyard"

I agree with your comments on the Wilmington tragedy. I am tired of people blaming this on Kaiser. But I wish you had gone 1 step further when you called the man and his wife jerks, he is also a murderer. Seems everyone wants to always put the blame on someone else. I enjoy your column, don't always agree, but isn't that what makes this country wonderful? Keep writing from your heart. I look forward to reading you more.

Thank you for doing a live call-in show on voting. The
information that ex-felons who are not on probation can regain
their right to vote is an important message to get across to the public.

Former LWV-PA President, Robbie Davis, did an excellent presentation.
I hope to see more of the same in the future.

Congratulations on your new format.
